I’m A New Believer
You Are A New Creation
You are a brand new man or woman. Old things are passed away. You are born again.
More than a conqueror, that’s who you are!
Know These Things
Now That You Are Born Again:
There are some basic truths you need that will make the Christian
life very real to you, as you begin to see changes in your life and experience unusual results.
Welcome to the family of God!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” -2 Corinthians 5: 17
Know that because you are now born again, you are a brand new person. It means old things about you are passed away and now all things have become new.
For example, a person who used to smoke, drink or tell lies, a person who was once regarded as good-for-nothing and never-do-well is now dead. God sees you as a brand new person. Please see yourself that way too.
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” – Colossians 2: 13
Please know that by the blood of Jesus, your sins are forgiven. You are thoroughly made clean and perfect. The nature of sin you were born with has been destroyed.
When God looks at you now, He sees you the way He sees Jesus. In place of your sins, God has given you His righteousness. You did not merit this gift, neither did you work for it, but God gave you because He loves you dearly.
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” – Galatians 3: 13
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross” – Colossians 2: 14
You are now free from every curse! The curse of poverty, failure, barrenness, loneliness, etc is now broken.
You are free from any family curse or demonic influence. Not only that, no one can place any curse on you now nor can any charm or curse have effect on you. (Numbers 23: 23, Exodus 23: 25-26, Genesis 12: 3)
“Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” -Daniel 11: 32
You are now born into the world of God – the Kingdom of God. So, you need to know the way things work in this new kingdom, so that you are not a misfit or a stumbling block to others. Besides, if you don’t know how things work in this kingdom and the things that are now your own in Christ, Satan will keep deceiving and cheating you.(Hosea 4: 6, John 8: 32).
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2: 15
Read the Bible
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3: 16
Everything you need to know about God and His ways and about your new self is in the Bible. Read your Bible more than any other book in the world. The more time you spend with the Bible, the more you know about God and the Kingdom to which you now belong, and the more you know about your rights and privileges as a child of God.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. “Hebrews 10: 25
Church is a place where the undiluted truth of the Word of God is taught, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, to make a quality and successful Christian out of you.
Don’t play with church! When there is any special program in church, don’t prefer to be somewhere else. Be diligent in your attendance, and very soon your life will clearly announce to everyone that you are truly born again!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4: 6
Now you have a Father in heaven that you can always talk to about your needs, problems, etc. He is always there.
Keep The Right Company
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. “ – Proverbs 13: 20
Now that you are born again, break off from every ungodly association and from every friend that is not born again. You are now light, they are still darkness, and the Bible says that light and darkness have nothing in common (2 Corinthians 6: 14). If you don’t break away from them, they will draw you back to your old life. Seek the company of people who are genuinely born again and who have testimonies. Also don’t be ashamed to tell your friends and everyone who will listen, that you are now born again. Share the testimony of your salvation with them. God can touch their lives through your testimony.
Find out about being a worker for God in the church. It is such a wonderful privilege to work for God as you commit yourself to service in His Kingdom. Don’t be a pew-warmer; make sure you are in at least one department/unit in the church. God promotes through service.
“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2: 38
Even Jesus had to be baptized in water! (Matthew 3: 13, Luke 3: 21). He called it the fulfillment of all righteousness. Until you are baptized in water, you are not yet complete.
Note that whatever baptism you did before you were born again is irrelevant. Water baptism comes after new birth, not before. This baptism is by immersion in water. The whole of you must go into the water. As you do that, the old you is buried and a new you emerges. So, desire and ensure that you are baptized in water.
“And they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” – Acts 2: 4
The Holy Spirit is the power of God that makes it cheap and possible for you to live the Christian life.
As you do these things, the glory of God will be so evident in your life for all to see. Where you used to fail before, you will begin to experience nothing but success. Where there used to be sorrow and troubles before, you will begin to enjoy unspeakable joy and peace.
